Our approach

Since its beginning, Spandana has implemented various types of social development projects like: empowerment of dalit women in Hukkeri taluk, sustainable livelihood project in Belgaum taluk, and National Child Labour Project in slum of Belgaum city.The major activities are formation of women SHGs, enrolment of children to school, fight against violence on women, promotion of women Federation, participation of women in Panchayat Raj Institutions, protection of women and children from HIV / AIDS, promotion of child rights, prevention of child marriage, and child trafficking, capacity building for women & community on human rights, women rights, Child Rights etc, and child labour rehabilitation school.

 

Our areas of intervention

Spandana primarily works for the empowerment and development of marginalized communities, particularly the women and children, who are the most vulnerable. Our major areas of interventions, include the following:

Ongoing Project

  • Promoting and strengthening of women leadership in 30 gram panchayats of Belagavi and Hukkeri blocks under The Hunger Project, New Delhi
  • Facilitating Rape Free India Campaign supported by Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Fondation, New Delhi
  • Promoting SHGs and JLGs for income generation/ livelihood activities to increase their income at least by 30% by linking them with the banks under NABARD financial services
  • Spandana Mahalakshmi Agama Mahila Cooperative society Ltd. has been promoted as a community-based organisation (CBO), registered under Corporative Act – 13/04/2018 at Bangalore. There are a total of 1,200 shareholders; total share amount INR 14, 64,000, total loan disbursement – INR 13,30,000
